Youth Gathering Policy

  1. Each youth gathering will be overseen by at least two “Leaders,” who are responsible for the gathering and students at all times.

  2. Only adults (21+) may serve as the primary leaders.

  3. All Leaders must be members in good standing at Good News Presbyterian.

  4. All leaders must have submitted to a background check.

  5. No leader may be involved in any sort of dating relationship (in person, online, or otherwise), or intimate physical activity of any kind, with a youth.

  6. The leaders of a mixed group of boys and girls shall consist of at least one male and one female, with a preference for more as available.

  7. A leader should never be alone with a young person in a private place. A leader should never meet one-on-one with a youth of the opposite sex but must be accompanied by an adult of the opposite sex.

  8. In order to give full attention and focus to the youth, leaders should limit cell phone usage.

  9. Leaders are responsible to remain with the youth at the conclusion of a gathering until each member has been picked up by parents or, if applicable, has left on their own.

  10. Parents should aim to pick their youth up on time to avoid undue delays for leaders at the conclusion of an event.

  11. No young person is to be left alone or unattended except in the case of restroom usage.

  12. Any violation of this policy is to be brought to the attention of the pastor or a ruling elder. Any allegation of illegal activity is also to be reported to the police department, in addition to the church officers.
