Youth Gathering Policy
-
Each youth gathering will be overseen by at least two “Leaders,” who are responsible for the gathering and students at all times.
-
Only adults (21+) may serve as the primary leaders.
-
All Leaders must be members in good standing at Good News Presbyterian.
-
All leaders must have submitted to a background check.
-
No leader may be involved in any sort of dating relationship (in person, online, or otherwise), or intimate physical activity of any kind, with a youth.
-
The leaders of a mixed group of boys and girls shall consist of at least one male and one female, with a preference for more as available.
-
A leader should never be alone with a young person in a private place. A leader should never meet one-on-one with a youth of the opposite sex but must be accompanied by an adult of the opposite sex.
-
In order to give full attention and focus to the youth, leaders should limit cell phone usage.
-
Leaders are responsible to remain with the youth at the conclusion of a gathering until each member has been picked up by parents or, if applicable, has left on their own.
-
Parents should aim to pick their youth up on time to avoid undue delays for leaders at the conclusion of an event.
-
No young person is to be left alone or unattended except in the case of restroom usage.
-
Any violation of this policy is to be brought to the attention of the pastor or a ruling elder. Any allegation of illegal activity is also to be reported to the police department, in addition to the church officers.
