Our Denomination
The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church is a conservative, Bible-based denomination that has been proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ since 1782. Its roots are traced to the Protestant Reformation, particularly the work of John Calvin and John Knox. Scottish immigrants who came to America in search of religious freedom brought the faith to these shores.
The ARP Church today is concentrated in the southeast but also extends into the northeast, southwest, and Canada. Relationships among its 280 congregations and 36 mission congregations are strong.
The ARP Church stands firmly on the historic biblical Christianity as summarized in the Apostles’ Creed and the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Further information on the work of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in foreign missions, North American church planting, Christian education, and other ministries can be found at www.arpchurch.org
"The ARP provides a place to stand (on Christ, in Scripture, in loyalty to the Westminster Standards), room to breathe (comparative freedom from kingdom-building mentalities), and an opportunity to grow (as the church looks to be faithful to the Lord in the future)."
— Dr. Sinclair Ferguson, retired pastor of First Presbyterian Church (ARP), Columbia, SC
"Today, many are looking for a Reformed denomination that adheres to the old faith in a loving and contemporary manner. I found this in the ARP, and I believe you will too."
— The late Dr. Jay Adams, a former ARP pastor
